Luc Kleiner, Bass

Singer and composer Luc Kleiner continues to shape a pluralistic musical identity in Los Angeles, performing frequently with the LA Master Chorale and LA Philharmonic. Luc’s musicianship was fostered from an early age by his mother, a notable early childhood music educator and globally-renowned teacher trainer. After a transcendent performance experience at Tanglewood’s Young Artist program, and influential summers working at Idyllwild Arts Festivals, Luc further pursued the voice, studying with Tim MacDougall at California State University Long Beach. In 2017, Luc earned a Master’s degree in Performance and Composition from CalArts, where he studied traditional Ghanaian music, Javanese Gamelan, North Indian vocal music, and composition with Wolfgang von Schweinitz. Since then, Luc has toured internationally with a 21-voice ensemble performing Orlando di Lasso’s final work, Lagrime di San Pietro, with staging by the inspirational Peter Sellars. Their recent performances include the Salzburg Festival 2019, Melbourne International Arts Festival, and Festival Internacional Cervantino in Guanajuato, Mexico. Luc was a soloist in Charlotte Bach Festival’s St. Matthew Passion, and has participated in Bach Akademie Charlotte and Oregon Bach Festival. Luc currently maintains private voice studios at several colleges, meanwhile composing troves of original music interleaving experimental Pop aesthetics with Concert-Classical modalities.
